ZULIC STUDIO has collaborated with Mia Lake Interiors across a range of residential interior projects, producing detailed 3D visualisations that help translate the studio’s design concepts, material selections and spatial ideas into realistic imagery.
Darling Point Residence
Among these projects, the Darling Point Residence was particularly challenging and rewarding.
The project began with an unusual constraint: there was no complete 3D model of the existing heritage interior to work from. Instead, the existing residence had to be digitally reconstructed from the ground up using photography as the primary visual reference.
Through careful study of the photographs, proportions, architectural details and spatial relationships, the existing rooms were recreated in 3D with close attention to the character of the original building. This required considerably more interpretation than conventional architectural modelling, where drawings, dimensions and digital models would normally provide the foundation.
Once the existing interior had been successfully reconstructed, the project moved into what was effectively a guided digital renovation. Working alongside Mia Lake and her design team, the proposed interiors were developed and visualised to communicate their vision for the transformed residence — introducing new colours, finishes, furnishings and contemporary interventions while retaining the architectural character of the heritage property.
The completed visualisations allowed the design team to see and refine the proposed transformation before construction, providing a realistic representation of how the existing heritage spaces and new interior design would come together.
For ZULIC STUDIO, the project was particularly rewarding because it brought together photographic interpretation, complex 3D reconstruction, detailed interior modelling and close creative collaboration — transforming a collection of reference photographs into a complete digital environment and ultimately into a convincing vision of the renovated home.
